gang history
the school years: 1990-1995
In September 1990 many of the gang started at Fulford School, the year was split across 6 forms (7 after the first year), with kids from the same primary school spread out across them all. One of these forms was 7HC, headed by Dr Campion. Having previously attended Escrick primary school together, Andrew Guest and Chris Britain ended up in here, and so did Darian Dundas and Lee Johnstone, who knew each other from Stamford Bridge. While Guesty ended up with the cool kids on one side of the room, the other lasses ended up in the middle, with the other lads nearest the door. In this motley group were Chris, Darian and Jig, also joining in at times were either Graham Ashton and Richard Garnham, or Russell Sabin and Danny Bamford, although for some reason those 2 pairs never mixed with each other at all for about 4 years. Also tagged on like a poor abandoned puppy was John Broughton, who had no real friends, but was OK.
Mixing with other forms didn't happen much in Year 7, although because Jig and Darian knew John Wyatt and Matthew Williamson there was a bit of a crossover with TB there, leading to the occasional meeting with the likes of Simon Everitt, Charles Greenwood, Ben Rawson, Chris Milner and Mark Dermody. In later years with sets for lessons and games including the full half years mingling became more common, so you often only saw people in your own form at form time if you were in higher/lower sets than people.
Despite going to primary school with Guesty we didn't really see much of each other at Fulford at all after the first few weeks, as we spent breaks with different people. In the second year there were the the lunchtime card games where me, Guesty, Jo, Gemma, Westy and Lanky used to play cards, while pretending to do homework if any teachers asked, but after we got stopped from being in the labs at lunch we only really talked on the bus until 6th form. Jig and Darian I saw quite a lot of in form time and breaks, and were the main link I had to a lot of other people. Derms and Williamson were people I saw during a few lessons that helped me make more friends outside of my form. Until 4th year German I'd never really seen much of Milner at all, as I was in higher sets for everything, so although I saw him at breaks as he was friends with Jig and Derms, we had little to do with each other until the great fun that was GCSE German with Mr Moores. Si was another one that I didn't see a lot of in lessons as his best subjects seemed to be my worst, so it was mostly a case of seeing each other in breaks through mutual friends.
With people leaving and the more streamlined line-up of 6th form things changed quite a bit, but that's another story.
HC line-up (from memory, I'm sure I'll miss out a few)
