gang history
the dice years: 2005-present
2005 saw Jig take a two-way approach to the group, with the secrets of dice nights being revealed, nights out involving Si, John, Krizbii and Jig became the norm, with Lucy a regular member of this group whenever she was free. On the other side of the gang, Jig was having weekend nights with Milner, Guesty, Joe and Katy,
occasional scheduling clashes left him with a dilemma and there was a tense meeting near the Golden Lion one night as the two gangs met, especially with the mysterious (but untrue) rumour of Joe hating Si
The latter half of the year saw Joe all out at sea, Milner and Lisa making the odd appearance on Saturday nights out with Krizbii and Jig, with Guesty and Katy making even more rare outings. During the week the dice nights continued, with Si, John, Jig, Krzb and Lucy joined by Sarah to make up the 6 dicegame
regulars, while other friends of Lucy's including Elly, Hazel, Laura and Yvonne got a taste of the dicey action, as did Stacey, Linda and Jig's cousin Nat
2006 started with few weekend activities, Jig and John's carpe diem nights died out after a while, but the midweek dice nights continued with 1 or 2 events a week, but with the girls at uni, the 6 were often only 4. In the middle of the year, Ric was added to the mix (a rare but welcome male addition to group) and Krizbii left for Australia in October, and apart from a brief summer return was absent for most of 2007. Dice nights continued a bit less frequently than before with Si, Jig and John, joined by Lucy, Ric and Sarah whenever they could. The 2006 Fuckdup didn't end until the following April.
The Big 100 took over most of early 2008 with a fairly regular line-up. Si, John and Jig remained ever-present, while Krizbii returned from travelling to make up the foursome. 10/11 put Jig out of action for a couple of months and out of regular drinking proceedings for most of the following year. A side effect of his accident was that it brought the extended gang back together, with Milner and Lisa joining in Jig Cup nights semi-regularly and Lu and Ric out most of the time.
2009 started with the strange combination of Krzb, Si and Lisa doing Bluebell v Guy Fawkes, a potentially class tie at the best of times, but on this occasion overshadowed by "fight night" thanks to the newly acquired draw machine causing beer spillage and a slightly wet crisp. The rest of the year was less eventful, except for October's Scorpiongate incident, while Jig was gradually getting to experience his own cup and have a few gigs by summer.
Pub quality was on the increase by 2010, with the new-look Slip Inn and all-new Brigantes thrusting themselves into dice night reckoning. The Jig Cup finally came to an exciting conclusion, but not until a new A-Z had begun between the quarter finals and semis and also between the semis and final. Joe made a long overdue dice night appearance for semi-final 2 before July finally arrived. Si, John, Jig, Krzb and Ric made the final, Lu was busy, Milner was canoeing, but Joe showed up for some Jenny's chips and to see Waggon & Horses crowned the winner. VPB returned later in the summer, Ric eliminated himself from the gang and Milner gradually faded into obscurity.
Late 2010 saw another FUCKDUP start, which ran through all of 2011. The gang was mostly the four regular boys, with occasional Joe appearances, frequent non-fatigued Lu appearances, and an increasing number of Lisa appearances as the year went on. Added to the mix was the Royal Wedding and bank holidays galore, leading to an anti-Royal Wedding Bank Holiday pub crawl, featuring the debuts of Mark, Ben and Clare, lots of shut pubs and Krizbii walking into a lamp post.
