double football dice
the rules
1. 11 pubs are listed in football formation style with ‘12’ as the goalkeeper, along with 3 subs.
2. We meet at a designated pub (historically Ye Olde Starre Inne for tea between 5:30-7pm).
3. First person (in this case, the manager John Watson) rolls both dice to see where we go.
4. Whilst enjoying pint in this pub, John rolls one dice to see if we’ve scored or conceded (See key below)
5. This process is then repeated 2 or 3 more times during the night.
KEY
GK (12) - This means opposition have a penalty. 1-4 they score, 5-6 he saves it.
RB/LB (2 or 3) - 1-4 they score, 5-6 our full back scores.
CD (4 or 11) - 1-4 they score, 5-6 our defender scores.
CM (5 or 10) - 1-3 they score, 4-6 our central midfielder scores.
RW/LW (6 or 9) - 1-2 they score, 3 roll again, 4-6 our winger scores.
CF/ST (7 or 8) - 1-2 they score, 3-6 our forward scores.

description by si - early 2007
Always seen as a bit of a 'boyz only' game (very sexist i know), this popular game came to prominence in late 2005 when each of York's fine pubs were treated as a 'player' in a football team.
A team of 11 York pubs would be selected, and then the gang members would take it turns to roll for a pub, and then roll again to see if we scored or conceded.
When Si was manager, the side lost nearly every week but krizb took over in November and steadied the ship although the last few results have been lost in the big AOL to btinternet swap over!
it is a good enough game to return but is not on the agenda at this stage (later in 2007 it did make a brief return in the run up to christmas during a break from the champions league)

2010 revival
On non-Si nights DFD returned and was also designated nut night in the absence of people with nut allergies.
It was used as a simple way to choose pubs with no real emphasis on actually getting a result

2012 halloween
On the day after Halloween (that'd be Hallow I guess) a spooky selection of pubs were put on the team sheet and an old-school meeting for tea kicked off a crawl (except for Jig who was banned from tea and had to make do with a hog roast).
